What We Migrate

• Operating system — We set up the same OS (or a recommended alternative) on your new Data Mammoth server.
• Websites — All website files, databases, and configurations.
• Applications — Web applications, APIs, and services.
• Databases — MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and other database systems.
• Email — Email accounts and messages (if server-hosted).
• DNS configuration — Guidance on updating DNS records.

Downtime Expectations

We aim to minimize downtime during migration:

• Planning phase — No downtime. Your existing server continues to operate normally.
• Data transfer — Your existing server remains online during the initial transfer.
• Final sync — A brief period may be needed to sync the latest changes.
• DNS propagation — DNS updates can take minutes to hours to propagate globally. During this time, some visitors may reach the old server while others reach the new one.

For most migrations, downtime is limited to 15 to 60 minutes during the final cutover.
