Managing Server Add-ons

Data Mammoth offers a range of add-on services that extend your server's capabilities beyond the base plan. Add-ons let you enhance security, increase resources, and add functionality without migrating to a new server. This guide covers the available add-ons, how to enable them, and how to manage them from your dashboard.

Available Add-ons

Depending on your server plan and location, the following add-ons may be available:

Automated Backups

Automated backups create regular snapshots of your entire server, including the operating system, applications, and data. If something goes wrong, you can restore your server to a previous state with a single click.

• Frequency — Daily, weekly, or custom schedules depending on the plan.
• Retention — A set number of backup copies are kept, with older ones automatically rotated.
• Restore — Restore a full server backup from the dashboard at any time.

Additional IP Addresses

Add extra public IPv4 addresses to your server for multi-site hosting, service isolation, or dedicated email IPs. See Adding Additional IP Addresses for configuration details.

DDoS Protection

Enhanced DDoS protection helps guard your server against volumetric and application-layer attacks. This add-on provides:

• Traffic scrubbing to filter malicious requests.
• Always-on or on-demand protection modes.
• Automatic detection and mitigation.

Extra Storage

If your current disk allocation is not sufficient, you can add extra storage blocks. Additional storage is attached to your server as a separate volume that you mount and format.

Monitoring and Alerts

Enable advanced monitoring that tracks server health metrics and sends email or webhook notifications when thresholds are crossed (e.g., CPU above 90%, disk above 85%).

Enabling an Add-on

Log in to your Data Mammoth dashboard.

Navigate to Servers and click on your server.

Go to the Add-ons tab (sometimes found under Settings or Manage).

Browse the available add-ons for your server.

Click Enable or Add next to the add-on you want.

Review the pricing — add-ons are billed monthly and prorated from your activation date.

Click Confirm to activate.

Most add-ons are activated within seconds. Some, like additional IPs, may require a few minutes for provisioning.

Managing Active Add-ons

Once an add-on is enabled, you can manage it from the same Add-ons tab:

• View status — See whether the add-on is active, pending, or requires configuration.
• Configure settings — Some add-ons have configurable options (e.g., backup frequency, alert thresholds).
• View usage — Check utilization for resource-based add-ons like extra storage.
• Disable/Remove — Turn off an add-on you no longer need.

Disabling an Add-on

To remove an add-on from your server:

Go to your server's Add-ons tab.

Find the add-on you want to disable.

Click Disable or Remove.

Confirm the removal.

Important considerations before disabling:

• Automated Backups — Disabling backups may delete stored backup copies. Download any backups you want to keep before disabling.
• Additional IPs — Remove the IP from your server's OS configuration and update DNS records before releasing the IP.
• DDoS Protection — Your server will return to standard protection levels. Consider the risk before disabling.

The add-on charge is removed from your next billing cycle. Partial month charges may be prorated.

Add-on prices vary by type and server location. To view current pricing:

Navigate to your server's Add-ons tab.

Each available add-on displays its monthly price.

Prices are also shown during the server ordering process.

Troubleshooting Add-on Issues

Add-on Not Activating

• Check that your account has a valid payment method on file.
• Verify there are no unpaid invoices that may block provisioning.
• Try refreshing the dashboard and enabling again.
• If the issue persists, contact support.

Backup Restoration Failed

• Ensure the server has enough disk space for the restored data.
• Check that the server is in a stopped state if required for restoration.
• Try restoring a different backup point if available.
