Browsing the Knowledge Base

4 min read

The Data Mammoth Knowledge Base is a comprehensive library of guides, tutorials, and troubleshooting articles designed to help you manage your hosting services independently. Whether you need step-by-step instructions for a common task or guidance on resolving a specific error, the Knowledge Base is your first stop for answers.

Accessing the Knowledge Base

You can access the Knowledge Base from multiple locations:

  • Dashboard — Click Support in the left navigation menu, then select Knowledge Base.
  • Direct URL — Navigate to the support section of the Data Mammoth website.
  • Ticket submission page — Suggested articles appear when you start typing your ticket subject, potentially answering your question before you submit.

Knowledge Base Structure

Articles are organized into categories that mirror the main areas of Data Mammoth services:

Getting Started

Guides for new users — creating an account, first login, ordering your first server, and choosing the right plan. Start here if you are new to Data Mammoth.

Server Management

Everything related to managing your VPS — dashboard navigation, power controls, monitoring, SSH keys, networking, upgrades, and OS-specific setup guides. See Understanding Your Server Dashboard as a starting point.

Billing & Payments

Invoices, payment methods, subscriptions, promo codes, refunds, and tax information. See How to View and Download Invoices for billing basics.

Security

Account and server security — 2FA, SSH hardening, firewalls, SSL certificates, DDoS protection, and backup strategies. See Security at Data Mammoth for an overview.

Troubleshooting

Diagnosis and resolution guides for common problems — server not responding, SSH connection issues, DNS problems, email delivery failures, and more. See Website Down — Quick Diagnosis Steps for a common starting point.

API & Developers

Documentation for the Data Mammoth API — authentication, endpoints, code examples, webhooks, and best practices. See API Overview to get started.

And More

Additional categories cover the Marketplace, n8n Hosting, Managed Services, Server Migration, Affiliate and Reseller Programs, and a comprehensive Glossary.

Searching the Knowledge Base

Using the Search Bar

The fastest way to find an answer is to use the search bar at the top of the Knowledge Base:

  • Click the Search field.
  • Type keywords related to your question (e.g., "SSH key", "invoice download", "firewall rules").
  • Press Enter or select from the suggested results.
  • Review the search results and click the most relevant article.
  • Search Tips

    • Use specific keywords — "install Docker Ubuntu" is more effective than "how do I install software."
    • Use error messages — Search for the exact error text (e.g., "Permission denied (publickey)").
    • Try different terms — If "DNS" does not find what you need, try "domain", "name server", or "A record."
    • Filter by category — If available, narrow results to a specific category.

    Reading an Article

Each Knowledge Base article follows a consistent structure:

  • Introduction — What the article covers and who it is for.
  • Prerequisites — What you need before following the guide.
  • Step-by-step instructions — Numbered steps with commands, screenshots, and explanations.
  • Troubleshooting — Common issues and how to resolve them.
  • What to Do Next — Links to related articles for continued learning.
  • Following Command-Line Instructions

Many articles include terminal commands. To use them:

  • Connect to your server via SSH.
  • Copy the command from the article.
  • Paste it into your terminal.
  • Replace placeholder values (like 203.0.113.10 or example.com) with your actual values.
  • Press Enter to execute.
  • Commands prefixed with sudo require administrative privileges.

    Suggesting Improvements

If you find an article that could be improved or notice missing information:

  • Look for a Feedback option at the bottom of the article.
  • Indicate whether the article was helpful.
  • Provide specific suggestions for improvement.
  • Your feedback helps us maintain accurate and useful documentation. See Providing Feedback on Support for more ways to share your input.

When the Knowledge Base Does Not Have Your Answer

If you cannot find an answer in the Knowledge Base:

  • Try different search terms — Rephrase your question or use technical terms.
  • Browse related categories — Your answer may be in a different section than expected.
  • Submit a support ticket — Our team can help with specific issues. See How to Submit a Support Ticket.
  • Check for updates — New articles are added regularly as services and features evolve.
  • What to Do Next

    • How to Submit a Support Ticket — Get help when articles are not enough.
    • All Ways to Contact Support — Explore all support channels.
    • Hosting & Cloud Glossary — Look up technical terms.
    • Getting Started — Begin your Data Mammoth journey.
