Having a valid payment method on file ensures your Data Mammoth services remain active without interruption. This guide walks you through adding, updating, and managing your payment methods, including credit and debit cards, PayPal, and other supported options.
Supported Payment Methods
Data Mammoth supports a variety of payment methods to accommodate customers worldwide:
- Credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Processed securely through Stripe.
- PayPal — Link your PayPal account for convenient payments.
- Account credit — Add funds to your Data Mammoth account balance and use them to pay invoices.
Adding a Credit or Debit Card
Step 1 — Navigate to Payment Methods
Step 2 — Add a New Card
Your card details are processed and stored securely by Stripe. Data Mammoth does not store your full card number — only a tokenized reference. Your actual card information is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant payment infrastructure.
Step 3 — Verification
In some cases, your bank may require additional verification through 3D Secure (also known as Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCode, or similar). If prompted, complete the verification step in the pop-up window or redirect page provided by your bank.
Adding PayPal
When PayPal is set as your default payment method, invoices will be charged to your linked PayPal account automatically (if auto-pay is enabled).
Setting a Default Payment Method
If you have multiple payment methods on file, you should designate one as your default. The default method is used for:
- Automatic invoice payments (auto-renewal)
- New orders during checkout (unless you manually select a different method)
The default payment method is marked with a badge or indicator in the list.
Updating a Payment Method
If your card expires or your bank issues a new card number:
Alternatively, you can add the new card as a new payment method, set it as default, and then remove the old one.
Card Expiration Reminders
Data Mammoth sends email notifications when a saved card is approaching its expiration date. Update your card details before it expires to avoid failed payments and potential service interruptions.
Removing a Payment Method
To remove a payment method you no longer use:
Important notes about removal:
- You cannot remove your default payment method if it is the only method on file and you have active services. Add a new method and set it as default first.
- If you have pending or unpaid invoices, ensure another valid payment method is available before removing the current one.
- Removing a payment method does not cancel any pending charges. Outstanding invoices will still need to be paid.
Payment Security
Data Mammoth takes payment security seriously:
- PCI-DSS compliance. All card payments are processed through Stripe, which is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified — the highest level of payment security certification.
- No card storage. Data Mammoth never stores your full credit card number, CVV, or sensitive payment data. We only store a secure token provided by the payment processor.
- 3D Secure. For additional security, transactions may be verified through 3D Secure (Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCode), which requires authentication through your bank.
- Encrypted connections. All payment pages are served over HTTPS with TLS encryption, ensuring your data is protected in transit.
- Fraud monitoring. Stripe's built-in fraud detection system monitors transactions for suspicious activity and may flag or block potentially fraudulent payments.
Auto-Pay and Manual Payments
Auto-Pay
When you have a default payment method set and auto-pay is enabled, Data Mammoth automatically charges your payment method when invoices are generated. This ensures seamless service continuity without manual intervention.
Auto-pay is enabled by default for most accounts. If you prefer to pay invoices manually, you can disable auto-pay in your billing settings.
Manual Payments
If auto-pay is disabled or if an automatic payment fails, you can pay invoices manually:

Troubleshooting Payment Issues
Payment Declined
If your payment is declined:
- Check card details. Ensure the card number, expiration date, CVV, and billing address are correct.
- Sufficient funds. Verify your card has enough available credit or your bank account has sufficient funds.
- Bank restrictions. Some banks block international transactions by default. Contact your bank to authorize the payment.
- Card limits. Your card may have daily or per-transaction spending limits. Check with your bank.
- Try another method. If one card continues to be declined, try a different card or use PayPal.
Payment Processing Delay
Payments are usually processed instantly. If a payment shows as "Processing" for more than a few minutes:
- Do not attempt to pay again, as this may result in a duplicate charge.
- Wait 30 minutes and check your invoice status.
- If the payment is still processing after 30 minutes, contact support with the invoice number.
